The Palace On Wheels train of India is one of the ten luxury trains of the world. The unmatched beauty of palace on wheels tour is perfect in terms of style, aura and royalty. The luxurious ride of palace on wheels takes one to the era of kings, queens and royalty. It is truly a palace in every sense. This special Indian heritage tourist train is running on its wheels since 1982, providing memorable experience of the rich culture of Rajasthan to the tourists. This epitome of luxury maintains an imperial style and décor.

The train was mainly built for the royalty and comfort of rulers of the princely states of Rajputana and Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the viceroy of British India. Later after independence the princely states became the part of the nation. The Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, together with the Indian Railways decided on a special train to offer people a taste of the Indian past. Today, the Palace on Wheels is the most promoted product by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

The train is fully air-conditioned. It has fourteen deluxe saloons or coaches named after the princely states of Rajasthan. Each saloon has 4 twin-bedded cabins attached with bath and shower facility, H/C water supply, attached toilets, channel music, intercom and wall to wall carpeting. Smiling personal attendants or ‘khidmatgars’ make sure that each visitor is well looked after. The music in every saloon adds to the ambience. There are 2 dining cars- The Maharaja And The Maharani- decorated in the colorful Rajasthani style and serving Indian, Rajasthani, Continental and Chinese food.

The bar is well-stocked with Indian liquor and a variety of scotch, wines and cocktails of different brands. It has interesting indoor games which are the major attractions for kids. The satellite phone service makes it easy to communicate anywhere in the world from the train. Other services include laundry services, doctor-on-call at each station, barber shop and beauty parlor. The lounge has a charming shop, "The Bazaar", which ideal for souvenirs and gifts.

The train is well equipped with modern amenities. The well furnished, lavish and exotic royal interiors, with beautiful paintings along with the elaborate costumes of the attendants make up the royal ambience.

The names of each coach of Palace On Wheels is taken from the princely states of Rajasthan namely Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Alwar, Udaipur, Bundi, Kota, Jhalawar, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Sirohi, and Kishangarh.

Itineraries:

Duration:  8 Days / 7 Nights
Destinations Covered:  Delhi, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur and Agra.

The train starts its unforgettable and life time journey from Delhi on every Wednesday and reach back to the city after a weak after 7 nights and 8 days of sheer excitement. It covers the most fascinating and sultry destinations of India.

Day 1: (Wednesday) New delhi
Reporting time: 16:00 hrs Departure: 17:45 hrs Dinner: 20:00 hrs


The journey begins from the Delhi Safdarjung railway station. Here the guests are accorded and welcomed traditionally. After the warm greetings the train departs for Jaipur on its set timing. A delicious dinner is provided onboard. Overnight will be on board the train.

Day 2: (Thursday) Jaipur

Jaipur- The Pink City Of India. Here the guests are greeted with colorful garlands, decorated elephants and Shehnai recitation. The half-day sight seeing in Jaipur includes The Hawa Mahal or The Palace Of Winds. It is a remarkable five storeyed building with honey combed sandstone windows, situated along the main street in the pink city. This is followed by a visit to magnificent amber fort. Thereafter the tour moves ahead for shopping Jaipur's famous jewelry, handicrafts, carpets blue pottery and textiles. Rajasthali, located near Ajmeri Gate is the only Rajasthan Govt. Emporium which sells genuine handicrafts at fixed prices.

After lunch at the famous Rambagh Palace Hotel, visit Jantar Mantar, the largest observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh and the City Palace. Return back to the Palace on Wheels and the journey starts for Jaisalmer. Dinner will be onboard the train.

Day 3: (Friday) Jaisalmer

Dinner: 19:30 hrs Departure: 23:00 hrs

Jaisalmer-The Golden City Of India. The city is famous for the beautiful Golden Fort and magnificent mansions or ‘havelis’. The Nathmalji-ki-haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli are the best examples of Rajput architectural splendor. After this shop at Rajasthali- the only Rajasthan Govt. emporium, for fine pattu shawls, mirror work and embroidered articles, wooden boxes, trinkets, silver jewellery and curios.
Take lunch onboard and then go for famous camel rides on the Sand Dunes Of Sam. the dinner will be followed by the cultural programmes at a hotel in Jaisalmer. The train leaves for Jodhpur at night.

Day 4: (Saturday) Jodhpur Breakfast: 07:30 hrs Arrival: 08:00 hrs Sightseeing: 08:30 hrs
Lunch: 13:00 hrs Departure: 15:30 hrs Dinner on board: 19:30 hrs

Jodhpur is a city ringed by a high stone wall with seven gates and several bastions. It is the second largest city of Rajasthan. Visit the famous rock solid Mehrangarh Fort along the grand palaces of Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana. Also visit Jaswant Thada, and a group of royal cenotaphs made of white marble. It lies near the fort complex.

Take lunch at the Umaid Bhawan Palace and shop for exquisite handcrafted articles including the famous breeches, embroidered shoes, metal curios, silver ware, painting and tie and dye fabrics. Return back to the luxurious ride again. After this the train leaves for Sawai Madhopur

Day 5: (Sunday) Sawai Madhopur

Sawai Madhopur is the town located at the entrance of the famous tiger reserve, Ranthambore National Park. Visit the Ranthambore National Park, wherein are located the ruins of a 10th century fort. It is famous for its rich and diverse variety of flora and fauna. This wildlife sanctuary is considered to be the country's best for observing and photographing the activities of the tiger. The park, covering an area of 392 sq. kms is home to more than 300 species of birds. The tiger, hyena, nilgain, wild boar, sambhar, jackal and fox are among those constituting the carnivorous population here. Sawai Madhopur is also known for its exclusive toys, ethnic ornaments and costumes.



Day 6 : (Sunday)  Chittorgarh

After lunch onboard, the train enters Chittorgarh – The Legendary City Of Rajasthan. It is the city of bravery and romance. The 7th century Chittorgarh fort, Vijay Stambh (tower of victory) and Kirti Stambh (tower of fame) are the major attractions.

Day 7: (Monday) Udaipur

Udaipur - The City Of Lakes. It is among the most beautiful and royal holidaying destinations of India. It has some of the finest palaces, forts and temples. Perhaps the two most beautiful sites of Udaipur are the dream like marble palaces - The Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) And The Jag Mandir, which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichola. On the shores of the lake is situated the grand City Palace, with magnificiently decorated courtyards, pavilions, terraces and corridors. After this memorable journey, the luxury coach takes you back to the Palace-On-Wheels at Chittorgarh and leaves for Bharatpur.


Day 8: (Tuesday) Bharatpur

The palace on wheels arrives in Bharatpur, early morning. After breakfast onboard, visit to the famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Numerous colorful varieties of birds including egrets, Siberian cranes, migratory water fowls and other species of birds can be spotted here.

Day 9: (Tuesday) Agra

Visit Fatehpur Sikri – The 16th Century Old Historical Town. It was once the capital of the Mughal Empire and the ruins are testimony to the days of glory and affluence. After lunch move on from the Red Fort and arrive at the Taj Mahal, one of the most magnificent and exuberant monument among the Seven Wonders of the World. It is a symbol of love, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Agra is also known for its marble inlay work like the Pietra Dura Work on the Taj, leather goods and jewellery. Enjoy dinner onboard and the train leaves for Delhi.

Day 10: (Wednesday) Delhi

The memorable journey ends in Delhi, the heart of India. The capital of India offers a variety to explore. It is an international metropolis with excellent tourist spots, recreational facilities, and a history that goes back to antiquity. The list of major attractions is endless which mainly includes, India gate, red fort, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Raj Ghat, Qutab Minar, Laxminarayan temple, lotus temple, Chandni Chowk, Humayun’s tomb etc. It is a city of destiny. It has a well developed network of railways, roadways, and airways.

- 10% Surcharge shall be levied on departure during Christmas/New Year.
- An extra 4.96% shall be levied as Service Tax on the tariff of Palace on Wheels.
- No charter can be booked during Christmas and New Year period.

Tariff is inclusive of travel/ catering/ conducted sightseeing/ entrance fee at monuments/ parks/ palaces/ cultural programs/ camel ride at Jaisalmer/ boat ride at Udaipur/ rickshaw ride at Bharatpur and charges for use of still cameras. Guest has to pay for usage of video cameras, liquor, laundry and other items of personal nature.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Booking Procedure

Sales Promotion Partners and other source of bookings will have to send written request for bookings and for confirmation thereof as follows:- 50% of the ticket value at the time of confirming the booking. Remaining 50% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.

Mode of Payment

Payments can be made by any Credit Card or through Swift money transfer.

In case of FIT, the guest details will have to be submitted at the time of booking. Any change in the details shall be treated as cancellation and would invite cancellation charges as applicable and the new name/s will be treated as fresh booking and will be confirmed keeping in view the waitlisted bookings.

CANCELLATION:

Cancellation must be advised by Fax/E-mail/Letter to The Luxury Trains. On cancellation, refund will be made. Certain amount of the ticket value will be deducted as follows.

In case of FITs

- 5% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.
- 20% of ticket value 30-59 days prior to departure.
- 100% of ticket value between less than 30 days prior to departure.

In case of group or charter

- 10% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.
- % of ticket value between 0 to 59 days prior to departure.
